Do you accept Advanced Review Copies (ARCs) or publisher submissions?
Yes. We welcome inquiries from publishers and authors.
We handle all review requests via an initial email exchange. Please contact us at thebookandthevibe@gmail.com and provide the meta data, brief synopsis, available formats, etc.
To maintain the integrity of the show, we usually do 1-2 book reviews per episode. Only books we finish completely are featured in those slots.
Accepting a copy does not guarantee a review on the podcast.
I do not plan to feature books in The Main Review segment that I did not genuinely enjoy. Note we have a preference for highly readable books with adventure, intrigue, or mystery with a strong sense of place/time. Adjacent (alt. history, historical fantasy, mythical retellings) to the genre are welcome, too.
How do you ensure your reviews remain unbiased?
Authenticity and transparency are foundational to the show and every review reflects an honest opinion. If a book doesn’t resonate, I may say so constructively while highlighting the type of reader who might enjoy it instead.
We do not accept payments or sponsorships in exchange for book reviews.
If authors are guests, we ask them to bring a historical fiction book they highly recommend that was authored by someone else; however, they can chat about their own book in The Tavern segment during the back half of the podcast, and in keeping with the spirit of the show.
Are you open to sponsorships or advertising partnerships?
We are accepting sponsorships (host read/evergreen spots) from brands that want to align with our target audience of readers of historical fiction, frequent travelers, amateur history buffs, and more.
To preserve the immersive listening experience of our show, we do not plan to include produced or announcer-read placed advertisements.
The preference is for host-read ad integrations that are genuinely relevant to our listeners or complement the natural flow of the episodes to maximize conversion and preserve authenticity.
The current Media & Ad Kit is available upon request by emailing thebookandthevibe@gmail.com.
Do you plan to have guests on your podcast?
Yes! We plan to EVOLVE THE WEEKLY CADENCE QUICKLY TOWARDS:
- 1 week of the month: STACKED EPISODE, which is 3 reviews of 3 books tied to either: a season, historical event, destination, time period, or theme. Think episodes like: "autumn stack"..."holiday stack".... "London stack"..."NYC stack".... "the Reformation stack"..."Great ancient figures stack"... "the nonfiction stack"..."Best of the year" ...and much much more.
- 1-2 episodes/month in the STANDARD FORMAT with Main Review, Unearthed, and The Tavern.
- 1-2 episodes/month to begin FEATURING A GUEST after the first several episodes. This will follow the same format including: Main Review, Unearthed, and The Tavern, but in an interview and Q&A format where the guest brings the book recommendation(s). See FAQs page for guest information.
Are you available for events, travel partnerships, and guest spots on other podcasts?
Yes. We welcome inquiries regarding appearing on other podcasts and attending events and conferences.
We also will consider media trips, city walks, historic and literary tours, literary festivals, and cultural tourism opportunities that align with our focus on historical fiction, history, immersive atmosphere, and content that would enhance the listener experience.
Please reach out to thebookandthevibe@gmail.com with any information, or just an initial idea of how we might work together.
We'd love to hear form you!
